Gladys Seaward
Gladys has a BA in English from Duke University, and has
been involved with the fiber arts since the mid 1970s. She
has been a member of Potomac Craftsmen Fiber Gallery since
1986. Experienced in weaving, basket weaving, gourd creations,
etc. she became interested in beadwork about 1996 when she
began learning bead weaving techniques from classes and books.
After studying a number of bead weaving techniques and stitches,
she has chosen to focus mainly on freeform and sculptural
beadwork to produce her one of a kind creations.
Her beadwork has been exhibited at Del Ray Artisans, Artisans
Center of Virginia, 2004 Annual Open Exhibition facilitated
by the Fairfax County Council of the Arts, Beadwork Magazine
website, and Creative Crafts Council 2005 Exhibition, and
the Greater Reston Arts Center.
Gladys is a member of the Potomac Craftsmen Gallery at the
Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia and an artist member
of the Greater Reston Arts Center.
